The product is light yellow or red-brown oily liquid; it will gradually turn into brown color when it is exposed to sunlight or air. The density of the product is 0.987-0.994g/cm3, the melting point is -57, the boiling point is 196, 156 (250mm Hg), 86 (15 mm Hg) and 79.2 (10 mmHg). It is soluble in the organic solvents such as ethanol,  and chloroform while it is insoluble in water.

APPLICATION:

N-Methylaniline is used as a solvent and in organic synthesis. It is used in the production of cationic brilliant red FG, cationic pink B, reactive yellow brown KGR, etc. in the dye industry. N-methylaniline is an intermediate in the synthesis of the insecticide buprofezin and the herbicide mefenacet.
